SAC Club house opening hours

For the new year of 2009, the opening hours will be such as
Mondays to Wednesday:
4pm - 7pm
Fridays:
3pm - 6pm
You can drop by during these hours to:
apply and make payment for membership;
register and make payment for activities;
find out more about the club and it's activities.

Important information pertaining to email communication
|
Dear members and friends,
It has come to our attention over the past few months that some of you did not receive emails pertaining to acknowledgement and trip details.
In most of the cases, we discovered that it was due to email clients/software marked us as SPAM, and therefore, the mail was filtered and placed in either the “Junk Mail” or “Bulk Mail” folder.
To help minimize such incidents, please assist us by doing the following:
1. Include the following emails into your address book:
- Graeme Oei – graeme@sac.org
- SAC General Email – email@sac.org
- Leader's email, if they have contacted you.
2. Contact us if it is 7 days prior to the trip.
3. Periodically scan your bulk folder to see if there are any emails missed.

Sir Edmund Hillary (1919-2008)

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the demise of our patron Sir Edmund Hillary.
On behalf of all members, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Sir Edmund Hillary.
Sir Edmund and Sherpa Tensing Norgay were the first men to summit Mount Everest in 1953. He was also noted for his explorations on the Antarctic continent in between 1957 and 1958. He devoted much of his life to philanthropy helping mostly the people of Nepal, building schools and hospitals in the mountains, and supporting the development of the Sherpa community.

Provisional Membership

Dear all,
Come this 2008, SAC will be introducing a new class of membership – the Provisional Membership. This Provisional Membership allows non-members to become “temporary” members when they join all our official trips (except for local FOC trips, cost-sharing trips and other trips that we exempt from this rule). The Provisional Membership is valid for the duration of the trip/activity only and expires immediately upon the completion of the trip/activity. In other words, it is good for one-time use only.
All non-members joining our trips from 1 January 2008 shall need to apply for this $30 Provisional Membership every time they join our trips. A yearly Provisional Membership register (based on calendar year) shall be maintained to record all who have paid the $30 fee during the year. At any time during the current calendar year, a non-member (who has paid the Provisional Membership fee during the same calendar year) can opt to become a full-fledge member by paying the one-time $50 entrance fee only (amount correct at time of print). This $50 entrance fee is payable no matter how many times a non member has paid the $30 Provisional Membership during the year. To avoid any misunderstanding, a trip that starts in the current year but ends in the next year (e.g. New Year Crossover 31 Dec to 2 Jan) shall be deemed to be the current calendar year’s trip. It is also the onus of the non-member to highlight that he/she has paid the Provisional Membership before when he/she is applying for membership, otherwise the full $80 (one-time entrance fee $50 and annual subscription fee $30) is applicable. The yearly Provisional Membership register shall start afresh in a new calendar year.
Money-wise, a non member who intends to join three or more trips with SAC for the year should sign up as a new member as it costs only $80 (one-time entrance fee $50 and annual subscription fee $30).
Provisional members are however not entitled to any privileges that full-fledge members enjoy. These include priority bookings for SAC trips, SAC newsletters, discount schemes with selected stores, etc.
Once the Provisional Membership fee is implemented, the non-member surcharge for all trips shall stop. However, clubhouse levy and all other charges relating to trips that are currently in force shall continue to apply. Provisional Membership does not apply for local FOC trips as the trips are meant to be free.
